
Chutney Powder
Chutney Powder also known as gunpowder or chutney podi, is a famous South Indian delicacy. Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups Groundnuts
- 1/2 cup Fried Bengal Gram Dal
- 1/3 cup Bengal Gram Dal
- 1/3 cup Urad Dal
- 7-9 Garlic cloves
- 1 cup Curry Leaves
- 2 small Tamarind chunks
- 1 tbsp Jaggery
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tbsp Chili Powder
Method:
- Roast groundnuts till you get nutty fragrance.
- Roast fried bengal dal, bengal gram dal, urad dal and garlic cloves for 3-5 minutes.
- Roast curry leaves till they shrivel and turn brittle.
- In a blender add all the roasted ingredients, tamarind, jaggery, salt and chili powder (adjust chili powder according to your spice level).
- Blend it into a powder.
- Chutney powder is ready, now you can sprinkle on anything or mix with ghee and relish.
