I will show you how to make a very simple chicken curry, no toasting masalas, no grinding and the only time consuming part is the marination(geddit?). Ingredients for Marinade:
- 1 kg Chicken
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tbsp Garam masala
- 2 tsp Dania Powder
- 1 tbsp Chili Powder
- 1/2 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
- 1/2 Lemon
Ingredients for Curry:
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 1 large Onion diced
- 1 or 2 sliced Green Chili
- 1/2 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
- 2 Tomatoes sliced
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tbsp Chili powder
- 1/2 tbsp Garam Masala
- 2 tsp Dania powder
- Few pinches of Kasuri Methi (optional)
- Handful finely chopped Corriander
- 1/2 Lemon
Method:
- First step is to rub the chicken with all the spices to marinade it. Add all the spices mentioned in the marinade ingredients and allow it to marinate for at least an hour, if you are in a hurry 15-30 mins also should do.
- In a pressure cooker vessel add 2 tbsp oil, after it is heated add a bay leaf, diced onions and sliced green chilies. Saute till the onions turn translucent.
- After the onions turn translucent, add ginger garlic paste and cook it till the raw smell of the paste is gone.
- Add sliced tomatoes and saute till oil separates from the tomatoes.
- Add chili powder, salt, garam masala, dania powder and 100-150 ml water and give everything a good mix. Cook this till oil separates again.
- Add the marinated chicken and stir everything and cook it for 15-20 mins, then add 200 ml water, chopped coriander, 1/2 squeezed lemon and kasuri methi (optional). Close the cooker lid and cook till 4 whistles.
- Serve it with hot rice or chapatis.
