Pizza

Pizza is everyone’s favorite, it has many variations on toppings and crusts, the crust is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and I am going to show you how to make a simple veg pizza. Trust me you will fall in love with it.

Happy Cooking!

Base:

  • 250 gms all purpose flour/maida
  • 1/2 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 100 ml lukewarm water
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Sauce:

  • 4 Tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 5 tbsp oil
  • 5-6 garlic pods
  • 1 tsp ketchup(optional)
  • 1 large onion

Toppings (you can add anything):

  • 1 capsicum (red, green, yellow)
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 med onion
  • 1 cup sweet corn
  • Grated Mozzarella cheese

Method for base:

  1. Mix yeast, lukewarm water and sugar in a separate jar and mix it well.
  2. Take a big bowl add flour and salt and mix the dry ingredients, then add oil and the yeast mixture and knead the dough for 10 mins, if the dough is on harder side add water little by little, your dough should have a springy texture, when you poke, it should spring back.
  3. Grease the bowl and leave the dough to rise for a minimum of 1 hr and cover the bowl with a towel or a wrap
  4. Do not keep the dough in refrigerator as it can slow down the rising process, keep it in a warm area and watch it rise.
  5. When you want to make the pizzas take the dough and knead it for a while again.
  6. Then partition the dough into 2 equal parts(if you are kneading more dough you can divide into multiple parts or according to your size preference).
  7. Take one of the partition and start pushing it outwards from the inside it is advisable to not use a rolling pin as it can remove the air gaps formed inside the dough. Stretch the dough outwards till you have your preferred size.

Method for sauce:

  1. Pour oil into a pan on a low flame, then add chopped onion and garlic and saute for a while till the onions become translucent then add tomatoes cut in half.
  2. Keep frying them till the tomatoes become mushy, you can remove the skin of the tomatoes or leave it as is after it becomes mushy smash the tomatoes, add salt, chili powder, red chili flakes, oregano and a tsp of ketchup(optional) and stir this mixture on low flame for a while.
  3. Now grind this mixture into a smooth sauce.

Method for pizza:

  1. I used a plate to assemble my pizza so first sprinkle cornmeal or lots of flour on the plate or on the pizza peel so that it will be easy to slide it into the oven.
  2. Take your base, apply the sauce first then add the cheese (there is no such thing as less cheese), then add sliced capsicum, onion and corn, you can play with your toppings you can add mushroom, baby corn, chicken, basil, or just cheese and sauce there are plenty of options have fun with them.
  3. Preheat the oven with a pizza stone or baking sheet inverted at the highest temperature for at least 20 mins.
  4. Then slide your pizza into the oven and bake it at the highest temperature till your crust or cheese starts browning. My pizza took a lot of time(20 mins approx) to get the brown crust its totally fine if it is white but the crust must be hard.
  5. Sprinkle some oregano, chili flakes and serve it hot.
