
Gojjavalakki is a Karnataka dish, gojju is thick, sweet and sour curry and avalakki is beaten rice. Gojjavalakki is made using tamarind pulp, it has a nice sweet and sour taste to it and this is one of my favourite, you will love it too!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup thick avalakki
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
- 1 tbsp Powdered jaggery
Tempering:
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard
- 3 tbsp groundnuts
- 1 tbsp channa dal
- 1 tbsp urad dal
- 2 red chilies
- few curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 20 gms MTR puliyogare powder
Method:
- Coarsely grind the avalakki.
- Soak the grinded avalakki in 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp chili powder, powdered jaggery, 2 tbsp tamarind pulp and 1/2 glass water.
- Add 3 tbsp of oil in a pan on medium heat, add 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds when it starts crackling add 3 tbsp groundnuts, a tbsp of channa dal and urad dal, few curry leaves, 2 red chilies, the puliyogare powder and haldi to the pan and saute for a while.
- Now add the avalakki to the pan and cook for a while.
- Garnish it with grated coconut and coriander leaves and serve it.
